Under the Area of Focus: Basic Education and Literacy, the Rotary Club of Biratnagar Downtown organized a Public Speaking Competition for its Interact clubs – Interact Club of DPS and Interact Club of DAV School. This event was held on International Youth Day, 12th August, at DAV Public School as part of the “C” of the TEACH module of RNLM.
The program saw 30-40 members from each Interact club, with 10 participants from each club competing in the public speaking competition. The topic for the competition was “Mobile Phone – A Blessing or a Curse”. The competition was judged by the renowned public speaker Vaibhav Nahata.
The total cost of the program was 4,000 NPR, and it benefited approximately 80 students from both the Interact clubs combined.
This event provided an excellent platform for students to express their views on the impact of mobile phones on their lives, encouraging them to think critically about technology. By discussing the topic, the participants gained a deeper understanding of how mobile phones can be a blessing when used wisely, but also how they can become a curse if misused. The competition not only helped to improve their public speaking skills but also fostered greater awareness about the importance of technology in the modern world.
