• Area of Focus: Disease Prevention and Treatment.
• We organized cervical cancer screening for women of Bakhri village, ward no-12 at Bakhri health post. The program was conducted by the Karuna Foundation,Nepal jointly with Biratnagar Mahanagarpalika. Under the supervision of Karuna Foundation program officers, a doctor and a nurse performed the screening. The workshop was also assisted by three health workers from Nagarpalika .
• The patients were diagnosed using VIA (visual inspection with acetic acid) procedures. 3 cases were found to be positive, out of which 2 were provided treatment in the camp through a thermocoagulation machine and 1 was referred for further treatment in Koshi Hospital.
• Total cost of the project – 4000/-NPR
• 50 women were benefitted through this screening program.
• Cervical cancer screening in villages improves early detection, reduces mortality, raises awareness, enhances healthcare access , lowers costs and fosters healthier communities while addressing cultural and logistical challenges.
